Zed Xu (b. 1993) is a Chinese immigrant film-maker, painter and performance artist working and living in Aotearoa New Zealand. Through an auto-ethnographic approach, Xu’s multidisciplinary creative approach contends with fiction and selfhood to consider how identity is constructed, reproduced and circulated.
Drawing on the intersectional space between race, gender and sexuality as observed through their hybrid identity, Xu works collaboratively with others to cultivate unforeseen narratives and alternative ways of looking.
